Against how they interpret islam. They are rigid sticks. True believers are like subtle plants that bend when the wind blows and straighten again when it stops.
“The example of a believer is that of a fresh tender plant; from whatever direction the wind comes, it bends it, but when the wind becomes quiet, it becomes straight again. Similarly, a believer is afflicted with calamities.
And an impious wicked person is like a pine tree which keeps hard and straight till God breaks it down when He wishes.”
(Sahih Al-Bukhari – Book 70 Hadith 547)
They also treat the goal as justifying the means. It doesnt.
The means to the goal is sometimes more important than the goal itself (since the goal is achieved only if God wants it).
